Good Public Policy
In our advocacy, we will place the long-term needs of the Tenderloin, Central City, and other stakeholders above the needs of our organization or any other single organization. We do not take positions that jeopardize affordable housing, health access in other neighborhoods, or living wage jobs.
Decision Making
In the GNC, we use a consensus process to reach decisions, meaning we strive to make decisions we can all agree upon, but recognize that we may disagree on certain points. Organizations in the GNC agree not to take public positions in conflict with ones made by the whole coalition.
Transparency
Our communications with other stakeholders (i.e. outside organizations, elected officials, CPMC) will be shared with each other. Any potential conflicts of interest will be shared.
Grassroots Participation and Community Input
Each organization is expected to do authentic, documented outreach to their base community around campaign issues. Representatives to the GNC will make sure they have organizational permission to speak for their group.
Shared Work, Shared Credit
Each organization will share work. In public forums, we will rotate the role of spokesperson. In regular coalition meetings, we will rotate the role of facilitator.
